२२ जुलै, २०१४ रोजी ठाण्याच्या वंदना सिनेमा जवळील परिसरात संजय रोकडे यांची हत्या डोक्यात रॉड मारून करण्यात आली होती. याप्रकरणी नौपाडा पोलीस ठाण्यात आरोपी मंगेश देविदास जाधव, मनीष देविदास जाधव, निलेश खंडू कटाते, मनोज जयराम सोनावणे, गणेश नारायण देवाडिगा यांच्या विरोधात हत्येचा गुन्हा दाखल करून अटक करण्यात आली होती. सदर प्रकरणाचा तपास करणारे पोलीस निरीक्षक मछिंद्र थोरवे यांनी तपासकामात सावळागोंधळ करून जाणीवपूर्वक आरोपींना फायदा होईल अशी तरतूद केल्याचा ठपका न्यायमूर्ती पी आर कदम यांनी निकालात नमूद करीत थोरवे यांच्या चौकशीचे आदेश पोलीस महासंचालक यांना दिले. न्यायालयात विशेष सरकारी वकील संगीता फड यांनी कौशल्याने न्यायालयात सरकारची बाजू मांडून तब्बल २० साक्षीदार तपासले. यात फिर्यादी जखमी जयंत भोईर यांच्यासह तीन वैद्यकीय अधिकारी, पंच यांचा समावेश होता. या हत्येप्रकरणात न्यायालयाने या पाचही आरोपीना 18 जानेवारी, 2018 रोजी दोषी ठरविले. त्यानंतर 23 जानेवारी,2018 रोजी मंगळवारी सश्रम जन्मठेपेची शिक्षा ठोठावली. मंगळवारी न्यायालयात शिक्षा ठोठावल्यानंतर कायदा व सुव्यवस्था बिघडू नये म्हणून प्रचंड पोलीस बंदोबस्त ठेवण्यात आला होता. शिक्षा सुनावल्यानंतर पाचही आरोपींना कारागृहात रवाना करण्यात आले. यावेळी न्यायालयात नातेवाईक आणि परिवार उपस्थित होते.
