घोडबंदर परिसरात नवीन ठाणे निर्माण होत असताना या भागातील गेल्या अनेक वर्षापासून असलेली स्मशानभूमीची मागणी लक्षात घेता आमदार प्रताप सरनाईक यांच्या विहंग ग्रुप ऑफ कंपनी व भागीदारी संस्थेच्या मालकीची असलेली हि जागा महापालिका आयुक्त संजीव जयस्वाल यांचेकडे सुपूर्द करण्यात आली.
